SA20 hits the right notes as crowds flock to opening night
A sunset walk around the ground revealed that as much as people were paying some attention to what was going on in the middle, they weren't paying that much. This is, after all, a tournament that's about more than cricket and many of the people at Newlands were enjoying the other things on offer. They were catching up with their friends, eating too many hot chips, queuing at the bars, and every now and then appreciating a big hit. So far, so successful then as the SA20 officially starts. Link

Aakash Chopra summed it up perfectly
Scored a triple ton in Ranji trophy.
Scored a double-ton in Vijay Hazare trophy
Scored a century in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
It’s not humanly possible to do more to deserve a call-up for Team India.

☕Quick Sip from Cricket Huddle
On our previous episode of the State of Cricket Podcast, we had writer Sanjit Misra come on board. He has written a book called the Inscrutable Master - the story of Hugh Tayfield. Very few know about this cricketer who at one time was compared to the great Jim Laker. He is the guy who Anil Kumble matched with his 10-wicket haul.
The book aims to bring to the reader the brilliance of Hugh Tayfield and his unique place in South Africa and Cricket’s history.
In the book, the journey of his cricketing life starts with his first series against Australia in 1949 and captures his exploits there. It moves on to his first overseas tour of Australia and New Zealand and speaks of his magnificent 13-wicket haul success at the MCG. The work then depicts Tayfield’s famous bowling performances in the 1955 tour of England and each of his 37 wickets in the aforementioned 1956-57 series against England, which was the pinnacle of his success. Finally, it captures the arduous passage of the Australia series of 1957-58 and then his final series against England in 1960, which ended in deep despair for Hugh Tayfield. The book can be found here
